Baule Mask

E for effort. Points for accuracy and value towards educational purposes. 

My ceremonial Baule mask, is certainly a phony though a beautiful one at that. I’ll only be giving Sadigh the smallest amount of credit due to the realism of the raffia – it was most likely made for tourism, though hopefully by a person within the Baule community. I’m fairly satisfied by my purchase; it represents what would be worn in dances for special occasions like funerals or honorary agricultural ceremonies so that I am able to educate people. This mask is definitely a fake, it’s so ridiculously dirty and is entirely too pigmented but it gets the job done, I suppose.
