Do not buy! Lackluster forgery!
How pathetic! This “Baule portrait mask” lacks all of the uniqueness and individuality of an authentic portrait mask. It looks mass-produced. This mask also has none of the artistic and figurative pieces seen in real masks, things like metal plating, artistic carving or a crown, used in Baule mask to show health, wisdom, and authority. The texture seen on the face appears light instead of the traditional dark wood that is stained, it looks like it was a light plywood, painted to look darker and aged, and then the paint chipped? Overall my assessment of this is that it is a lazy forgery!
