The Berea College Art Collection is composed of over 16,000 artworks and artifacts from around the world that span roughly 5,000 years of human artistic creation. As the largest university art collection in the region, the Berea College Art Collection is an invaluable resource that supports student learning and enriches our community. The permanent collection is made available to the Berea community through exhibitions in our Dimitrie Berea and Masterpiece Galleries, class visits, gallery tours, special programs, research appointments, and our searchable database (linked below).

Below, you will find a selection of collection “highlights” with research and interpretation provided by Berea College students. We rely on the these highlights and our online database to ensure the accessibility of our vast collection to our wide audience. Since we have a limited exhibition space, these virtual records allow us to further fulfill our mission of enriching the study and scholarship of art.

To view more objects from the collection, visit our online database.

Currently, about 33% of our vast collection is accessible through the online database, and more object records are being shared to this invaluable platform each week. However, these records may be incomplete – if you notice an error or would like to provide additional information on an artwork, please reach out to us at dulmanngalleries@berea.edu.
