Do your research
Sometimes what you order isn’t exactly what you get. The Chimu favored a black ceramic and so this object is already out of place, given the fact that it’s painted. I let it slide thinking it was maybe a rare one. That is until I found out that the Chimu mass produced their pottery so it should look like other ones! There is also a curious distribution of ‘dirt’ and damage. Others I found online don’t have the same kind of damage or paint erosion this object does. Why is it colorful? This looks more Moche than anything else, although they got the animal right at least. Is this one even supposed to be Chimu or did they just mess up the cultures and not do their research? If you are going to fool your customers, at least put some effort into it.
