.5/5 stars What did I just get in the mail

I don’t even know why I bought this. I should’ve known this piece was fake from the price. The “Greek Amphora” is nothing less than a lazy job. The carvings were done swiftly with very little care. Carvings and paintings on amphoras were known to be very detailed and meant to tell a coherent story. The “dirt” on the object is in places that don’t make sense and keep the image perfectly intact in a way that is too convenient. I have never seen an amphora in a museum that was left dirty and not cleaned. The coloring is also uncommon, it was normal for 6th century black figure pottery the background to range from yellow to a deep golden orange, because it was a 3-step firing process with different ingredients to achieve the deep black color of the figures.
