Sentiments

By Sharonda Nix

These paintings give you a peek into what it means for me to feel comfortably but despairingly isolated. They show both my solitude and my yearning to love and connect with other people who, I believe, must also be as emotionally conflicted as I am. My world is filled with this internal conflict: the desire to form a better relationship with myself and others while also not wanting to give up the unique calm and safety I feel most while being alone. This is my self-expression, but it is also my attempt to comfort others who struggle as I do, feeling different, feeling disconnected.
