Grace Reasor

Life can be a scary thing; there are uncertainties around every corner and not knowing what’s lurking in the bushes can cause great anxieties. To overcome the fears of the unknown, one must keep pushing forward despite their worry and make the journey through life. My artwork is about the anxieties that come with embarking on something new, the process of finding the tools to cope with it and reaching peace with one’s circumstances.

The imagery I use in my work is illustrative and playful. I have been greatly influenced by children’s book illustrations and western animation, both of which I grew up experiencing. They were the first forms of art I was exposed to, and the use of color, characters, humor, and stories have stuck with me heavily. Despite the imagery being playful, my art touches on some heavier topics like anxiety, apathy and feeling lost and overwhelmed. I choose these types of images because the world is already so dark and bleak, and I don’t wish to create more darkness.
