The artworks and artifacts on display in Rediscover, located in the Dimitrie Berea and Masterpiece galleries, celebrate the much-anticipated reopening of the Doris Ulmann Galleries. Each object was carefully selected to showcase the richness and depth of Berea College’s permanent art collection, which contains more than 15,000 objects that represent over 5,000 years of human creation, from the ancient world to our present day.

As we welcome visitors from our campus community and from afar to return to the art museum for the first time since March 2020, we hope you will find joy in seeing familiar, longtime favorites of the permanent collection and in discovering new gems amongst the never-before-seen works and recent acquisitions on view. While making visible connections across cultures, these artworks also engage in a dialogue that underscores the unique history of the museum, supports the teaching mission of the Art and Art History Department, and reflects the values of the Great Commitments of Berea College.
