When you think of who you are, do you ever pause to think of all the small things you have picked up from those around you? From close friends and family to strangers, we pick up habits and quirks from those around us, often unknowingly. The little things we accumulate and, in turn, project outwards are what I think makes us who we are as individuals.

The translucent porcelain forms that are a part of this installation behave as gathering basins, each with its own set of ridges for crystals to gather upon. These crystals, grown from a saturated solution of alum-a mineral commonly used for pickling, treating scrapes, and dying fabric, represent the gathering of thoughts, ideas, habits, and quirks. What things could you be accumulating, where might they originate, and what do you have a hand in passing on?
